Garrett County
Garrett County Memorial Hospital is
a 76-bed, not-for-profit, acute care
facility situated in the Appalachian
Mountain region of western Maryland.
One of the largest employers in
Garrett County, GCMH is supported by
a staff of professional, highly
skilled employees backed by state of
the art equipment.
The CHIPS Network provides an
efficient and economical framework
for Healthcare Associations,
distributors, manufacturers and
providers to collectively access
information, communicate and work
together. Cherry Hill Assisted
Living is state licensed and medical
certified for 3 levels of care.
Garrett County schools have a
reputation for academic excellence.
Garrett College, located in McHenry,
is noted for its friendly atmosphere
and outstanding faculty. It is
especially renowned for its programs
related to natural resources, which
have spread Garrett's reputation for
excellence and innovation.

Central Garrett Industrial Park,
Southern Garrett Industrial Park,
and Northern Garrett Industrial Park
are State Enterprise Zones. Garrett
County is a HUB (Historically
Underutilized Business) Zone as
designated by the U.S. Small
Business Administration. Garrett
County is also one of 7 counties
participating in the One Maryland
Program, which offers significant
tax credits for capital investments
that create jobs. Garrett County
features a vast array of special
events throughout the year. Premier
of these is Autumn Glory, which in
itself offers more than 30 events
over 5 fun-filled days celebrating
fall foliage!
The Garrett County Visitors Center,
operated by the Garrett County
Chamber of Commerce, is an
information epicenter supporting
tourism throughout the county.
The Deep Creek Discovery Center,
overlooking the lake in Deep Creek
Lake State Park, offers a glimpse
into the history, culture and
wildlife of Western Maryland through
a lake habitat aquarium and a
variety of interactive exhibits.
